The HP Mini 1000 - Netbook Tonic
HP has made some new netbook models, the HP Mini 1000 and Compaq Mini 700th By and large, they are almost identical, although that is 700 in a hundred pounds less than his brother at £ 299 retail.
The HP Mini 1000 is not the first mini laptop from Hewlett-Packard, produced with the HP 2133 Mini-Note aired last year. And it was a very credible effort - which is the mass of the Eee PC imitators. The Mini-Note was essentially a fantastic chassis, though left in the lurchsomething of what was inside, the CPU and battery. So what the Mini can do a better 1000?
For an HP scraps need to move away the aluminum, and replaced it with plastic, and perhaps disappointing, but it can help the sting out of the price tag, and the remainder of the previously bulky weight that is apparently closer to 1.1 pounds. In the end, this makes sense, there is a netbook apparently small, lightweight and cheap - if you want a touch of class as well as in mixed, then you pay for them - the SonyVAIO TT and MacBook Air both hover over a wing. HP has also cut the dimensions, making it little more than an inch thick.
The keyboard is great, all the way to the edges and far down in the main compartment. The touchpad as a result is quite narrow and the mouse buttons are on the side as the Acer Aspire One, which is very irritating! Scrolling on web pages is also threatened by the close touchpad. That said, the keyboard on HP Netbooks stay out of the bestit - at least so far.
The evacuation of the former slow Via C7-M processor can only be a good thing. The replacement of industry standard 1.6 GHz Intel Atom (with 1 GB of RAM) brings the power on a par with other mini-laptops. Performance, while not improving now the biggest selling point on the HP keyboard and wide screen but think.
Speaking of the 10.1 inch widescreen is a "media-friendly" 16:9 format. The Compaq-700 is 10.2 inches but in a 16:10 ratio. TheDifference seems pretty minimalist, it's hard to justify the £ 100 premium. The Mini 1000 is net an "exquisite onyx casing" but if you like it tickles you. Other features of Compaq includes an integrated webcam, microphone, WiFi, Bluetooth and optional WWAN.
The Compaq should take the shelves in the coming weeks with the right mouse button and ready for Christmas. The Mini 1000 is followed in mid-February 2009 from a month earlier by the Vivienne Tam Edition 1000 Mini-features anattractive female flower-like motif in a rich red color. For so-called "fashionistas" who do not like a geek developed perceived as whip netbook out there - of course you can expect to pay a premium for the privilege. The Vivienne Tam Edition will be the same price as the original Mini 1000 - € 399 retail - although for fifty pounds more you could have your hands on the S101 Eee PC.
The Compaq Mini 700 will be sold by network providers with HSDPA, are included, the 3G"anywhere" mobile broadband. HP seem to have cracked the netbook data then - small, cheap (questionable), and light and connected. But it is a pity to only 2 USB ports and a connector for audio input and output though. However, they have a chapter "HP Mini Mobile Drive" - essentially a USB port for specific HP USB sticks only - be very helpful.
Nevertheless, HP have certainly mounted a credible challenge to Asus, and before all 10-inch laptops, plays onthe strengths of the keyboard and see and bring the performance up to standard with the atom. The skinny is also a big plus point. Battery life remains the mercy of the 3-cell battery, with willpower for about 2 hours 30 minutes usage time enough for a movie maybe. Obviously, a 6-cell version is in preparation - Perfection is near!
