You have no doubt heard about the new netbook computers. When they first came out, many people thought these netbooks were a solution looking for a problem, but as they have evolved, these small notebook computers are increasing rapidly in popularity and as the price continues to drop.

The good news is that there are not nearly as many option decisions that you need to make when you are shopping for a netbook computer system. The reason is that they are all pretty much the same, and with the same limitations. Unlike a laptop or traditional notebook or desktop computer, you do not have 25 pages of possible options that you can add on, which can sometimes almost double the base price of the system.

Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-BK 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Black) Review

Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-BK 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Black)
If you’re looking at this product listing then perhaps you already know that ASUS makes some of the best portable PCs in just about any price range. But if not, well, they do.

This EEE PC is extremely light weight (I can balance it on three fingers), very fast, and surprisingly powerful.

PROS:
-Amazing quality: Well constructed, excellent features for a netbook. Performs like a laptop in many ways.

-Feather light

-Clean, sleek look

ASUS 7″ Eee 8GB PC Netbook Computer with Windows XP - Galaxy Black Review

ASUS 7" Eee 8GB PC Netbook Computer with Windows XP - Galaxy Black
This little ‘netbook’ is very small. I liken it too a poor man’s OQO but it does its intended job: To get on the Internet. One cannot play WoW on it and expect it to mimic their home PC. Also it having a Celeron is something to hamper the expected performance of it. However, it comes underclocked! A good thing and a bad one too. That’s to save energy and extend the life of the machine. I was blessed to get a version w/ Windows XP on it for a reasonable price. The first thing I did was to bump up the SO-DIMM RAM to 2GB and that seemed to help. The auto update (which I disabled) stuck me with XP Service Pack 3, so that ate up the already small HD. Getting rid of the swapfiles freed up over 5% of the HD, which is a lot for just an 8GB hard drive. The 701 SD possesses a SD card reader (hence its name) so one can save the solid-state drive some room. It seems to run a little hot when it’s used for a while. The battery charges relatively quick compared to my Compaq V6444US.

Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Hot Pink) Review

Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR-PU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Hot Pink)
I did a good deal of reading and research before purchasing this ASUS Eee. I was attracted by the 2 gigs of RAM that were included, allowing a full version of Windows 7 to run. It is light, easy to tote around, and full featured — right down to the webcam. The tracker pad is comfy and responsive. Display is not sharp and gorgeous like bigger computers, but it is more than adequate for my portable computing purposes. This is not a desktop replacement, but how great for business trips and vacation — can’t wait to use it for offloading photos while traveling using the built-in SD card slot!

Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Rose Pink) Review

Asus Eee PC 1001P-MU17-PI 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Rose Pink)
This small light netbook exceeds my expectations. I did not imagine it would have such a user friendly keyboard; I use it for word processing of short items such as this review. This product is so easy to lift, manipulate and carry. Battery life seems to be as advertised. I thought pink would be distracting; it isn’t. This has quickly become my favorite computer. It’s my first ASUS, and it has sold me on the company. As always, kudos to Amazon for sensible packaging and speed of delivery.

Asus Eee PC 1005HA-MU17-BU 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Royal Blue) Review

Asus Eee PC 1005HA-MU17-BU 10.1-Inch Intel Atom Netbook Computer (Royal Blue)
I ordered this product as a sort of mobile, around the house computer. It works very well for what it was intended for. The only thing I would do to this computer would be to add more memory. I also highly recommend putting XP on it as opposed to Windows 7, Starter or otherwise. It can really bog it down.

  • Intel Atom N270 (1.60GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, FSB 533MHz)
  • 1 GB SODIMM memory
  • 10.1″ WSVGA (1024×600) Wide Screen LCD
  • Integrated Graphics Controller; Shared w/ system memory
