I own an HP Mini 1000, while my wife has an HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition. Both are equipped with 2 GB of RAM, but my wife still has Windows XP Home and I have Windows 7 Beta. My tests are hardly scientific, but I have found that the extra memory will definitely help Windows 7 performance with full-screen Flash video. It looks like Windows 7Windows XP and full-screen Flash video performance seem to be identical. With lessar RAM, Windows XP performed better. There are many factors that is the comparison of particular OS with a beta OS like Windows 7 There are also flash software, browser versions and compatibility issues, the need to focus on Windows 7 may be adjusted. With the S10-2 Lenovo played a game of give and take.
On the outside, the netbook looks and feels cheap. Everything is plastic — even the metal looking bits. This makes for a very light netbook, and one that can survive a drop without much damage [speaking from experience]. Even the decorative colors look like a half-hearted attempt at dressing this device up. Finally, the battery has a hump in it that allows device to sit at an angle. This is a great feature because it allows the netbook too cool efficiently, but at the same time makes S10-2 a bit thick. If aesthetics are important to your computing devices this might not be the netbook for you.

chances are, you will not laugh or anything, because this is not normal to my videos. My Samsung NC10 came in the other day. I thought I share my experience with this netbook very quickly. After reading many reviews, the bloatware that Samsung was included with this netbook a big complaint. Instead of booting directly into the original Windows installation, I decided to install a fresh, clean copy with SP3 slipstreamed and integrated all the drivers. The drivers were downloadedsamsung.com and the Bluetooth LAN drivers have been extracted from their. exe installer with 7-zip. The XP installer was put together with nLine. After the XP install the Bluetooth driver was to be re-installed to its full functionality. For Windows 7 Build 7000 I installed 32-bit natural. All hardware was successfully recognized up to the LAN. The. exe installer from Samsung does not go through successfully, so I had to unpack the driver with 7-zip and install it manuallyfrom the Device Manager. Another thing to note is that to play no sound after wake from sleep. Remember that the results vary with anyone. Please do not use them for any official reference. This little ‘netbook’ is very small. I liken it too a poor man’s OQO but it does its intended job: To get on the Internet. One cannot play WoW on it and expect it to mimic their home PC. Also it having a Celeron is something to hamper the expected performance of it. However, it comes underclocked! A good thing and a bad one too. That’s to save energy and extend the life of the machine. I was blessed to get a version w/ Windows XP on it for a reasonable price. The first thing I did was to bump up the SO-DIMM RAM to 2GB and that seemed to help. The auto update (which I disabled) stuck me with XP Service Pack 3, so that ate up the already small HD. Getting rid of the swapfiles freed up over 5% of the HD, which is a lot for just an 8GB hard drive. The 701 SD possesses a SD card reader (hence its name) so one can save the solid-state drive some room. It seems to run a little hot when it’s used for a while. The battery charges relatively quick compared to my Compaq V6444US.

View the boot-up times of Google Chrome OS, Windows 7, and Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9:10. Chrome OS is the fastest by far, although I noted that Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10 are not properly installed, it can be faster. Moreover Chrome OS is running away from a USB flash drive. Amazing quality finish. Battery life exceeded my expectations, between 8 and 11 hours and no lost charge when off.
Excellent keyboard. Snappy performance. Nice matt screen.
2 downs are touchpad could have been slightly bigger, and screen res could have been 768 high instead of 600. Otherwise everything else is perfect.
